During FDR’s State of the Union address in 1941, Roosevelt made a case for further US involvement in the European war. The core concept came to be known as the Four Freedoms, the freedom of speech, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want, and the freedom from fear. This became the rational for US involvement in WWII. And defined American public policy for a generation. It was visualized by Norman Rockwells’ paintings and posters.
